Most of the time we were a band searching for a
name. If I recall correctly we settled on
Liquid County closer to the end of our
tenure than the beginning. We would get together once
a week to jam and record at the Hotel in Mile End
Montreal. Kat on drums and vocals, Bob on bass or
sax, and me, RJ, on electric guitar and vocals, sometimes
bass or piano. The Rock Hotel was a residential rentable
rehearsal space and Bob was a partner in the business, so
when we booked time – he’d book the whole flat. We’d
usually make a night of it – pizza – beers – recording –
Maybe a listen back after. We were living in our bus across
the street from the Rock Hotel – that winter we faced off
with a slew of government agents trying to shut down our
lifestyle. As a result the music can be classified
Railing Against The System.

Ray Jamaica – electric guitar, vocals, piano
Bob Williams – bass guitar, saxophone
Kathryn Jane – drums, vocals
Tracks 2,3,5 and 6 are completely improvised. Track 1, Vodka and
7 Up I wrote some years ago in New Orleans although the 2nd verse
lyrics are improvised as is the arrangement. Track 4, RnR is a bitch
these days, originally appeared on Katrays Remade Live release.
This song was inspired lyrically years ago from a dream, then Kat
wrote the awesome riff. This version is closer to my dream vision.
Track 7, Carrying on Again has been a fall back song I’ve
improvised at the piano since childhood. Liquid County recorded a
number of versions, this one captures the spirit.
Additional bass – Jacob Potvin Williams
Additional vocals – Lutain Stuart
